"Survival behavior relates to one's personality characteristics. Corinna's book shares many of these factors and makes them easy to understand because she is a native who has lived the problem and can share her experience. It is real and practical and useful for those confronting cancer and other problems." Bernie Siegel, MD author of Faith, Hope & Healing and 365 Prescriptions For The Soul. With humor and insight, we follow Corinna from MD Anderson to Tijuana, Mexico as she navigates the world of cancer treatment, allowing us into her thoughts as she learns to embrace the present moment. Body introduces us to Corinna, her diagnosis, and conventional chemotherapy. The second part, Mind, shows the explosion of fear and turmoil that override her reality as she decides to move forward with alternative cancer treatments. Finally, in Spirit, the cancer treatment and processes become secondary as peace is recognized and sought. Corinna's extensive use of footnotes instigate a meta-conversation with work of such luminaries as Eckhart Tolle, Dan Millman, Bijan, Bernie Siegel, and Louise Hay.

This book documents the author's experiences as she is diagnosed with and then treated for Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Throughout the book, we read exactly what the author is thinking... she share's her inner voice (you know... the one that says things you aren't always proud of) her fears, her resentments, her triumphs. Some of this is raw, painful, and about as intimately personal as you can get. Because of this, I was completely riveted, and I was able to identify with the author.Corinna Borden's journey covers not just a struggle with cancer, but also an examination of where Western and Eastern medicines work best and a look at how hard it can be to take a path that is not supported by friends and family.
This is an excellent book... I don't know where Mrs. Borden goes from here, but if she writes any more books, they'll be at the top of my reading list.

I Dreamt of Sausage Corinna Borden 9780578033129 Books Reviews
A moving portrayal of uncertainty, distress, reaching out, positive thinking, mutual support, and love, this book presents the strength of the author and her husband to move forward and resist the ghosts of the past, serving as a narrative for our time.
This book should be required reading for medical students; it provides an insightful, interesting, and very provocative look at the person behind what in medical school is often reduced to a diagnosis.
This book is outstanding. Very few people are able to translate major life events into such authentic prose without being self-agrandizing or seeming self-absorbed. Corinna succeeds because she reaches out to the reader and makes her very private journey seem relatable, and almost universal. Corinna's humble voice was refreshing to read.
Thoroughly engaging, insightful, and uplifting. As the partner of a physician, I can relate to many of the described feelings and experiences. I love her positive disposition and determination to live life to the absolute fullest. A beautiful reminder to nurture our bodies and cherish our loved ones.
Corinna was very brave to integrate the naturopathic way of treating her cancer. In all actuality, this is the best way of surviving cancer. Our medical paradigm has to wake up!! And we have to not let them frighten us into doing the wrong thing at the wrong time. Research, research, research!
There are doctors who are treating cancer very successfully. In N.Y., there's Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez; in Mexico, The Gerson Institute; in Texas, Dr. Burzinski. RESEARCH.
I was blown away by Corinna's "I Dreamt of Sausage." It is a page turner. This is a powerful and beautifully written narrative of her journey through traditional and alternative therapies for Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Ultimately she takes you to places you may not have thought to go where the power of thinking positively and thinking differently re-shape your approach to life, medicine and marriage. Kudos on a remarkable first book.
This book helped me put my mind at ease. I was worried about a health problem and this book helped me to relax and look at my inner self to calm down and better evaluate what was really going on. Mrs Borden is very truthful, entertaining, and practical. I'll admit I made it about 3/4 the way through the book because I found myself not needing to read the rest, it did what I needed and I lost interest. It's still on my reading stand, waiting for a rainy day...
